PETER MULLIN
Geoscience Director
Dr. Mullin has 40 years of experience as a successful oil and gas Explorationist and manager. He has an extensive knowledge of both US and International operations and is a frequent presenter of global activity at AAPG and related events. He is well respected as a co-worker and manager by both colleagues and partners. He has been directly involved in multiple significant deep-water discoveries of recent years, managing Shell’s acquisition of Angola Block 18 (the Greater Plutonio cluster), the exploration of the BS-4 and BC-10 fields (Brazil), and as Hess’ New Venture Manager acquiring the Almond area cluster (Ghana). Total gross discovered in place volume in these ventures: 8 billion barrels.
Dr. Mullin started his career in Shell as a seismic interpreter in Shell’s Madrid office. Subsequently, Peter handled increasing responsibilities and management positions for Shell in both exploration and production in Peru, Colombia, the North Sea, Angola and Brazil.
Dr. Mullin joined Hess in 2003 as Brazil Exploration Manager and Atlantic New Ventures Manager, acquiring acreage in Peru, Brazil and Ghana – this last leading to a series of significant discoveries. His extensive experience led to a two-year period in a team of global experts charged with identifying new exploration opportunities world-wide, during which the team evaluated every basin outside of Antarctica.
Peter moved to PanAtlantic Exploration in 2012, where he become New Ventures Manager, helping to build an extensive portfolio of exploration acreage in West Africa and Colombia. This role included membership of a M&A group, which also addressed US conventional and unconventional opportunities.
Dr. Mullin is currently Geoscience Director at WTD Resources and is involved in a series of initiatives along the US Gulf Coast and Latin America, most recently analyzing Mexican bid round opportunities.
